Come ride with us! Bring your horse and enjoy a lovely ride through these amazing lands!

SPARC is sponsoring its 11th Annual Stewart State Forest Trail Ride on (new!) Saturday morning, April 30th, 2011. Bring your horse and enjoy a great ride on marked trails on the 7,000-acre Stewart lands located in the beautiful Hudson Valley, lands that SPARC fought to save as open space -- a 20-year effort that resulted in Stewart State Forest's creation in November 2005.

Riders can choose to do the  "Smooth and Easy" 1+ hour ride or the longer, "Rough and Ready", 3+ hour ride, both utilizing interesting and varied terrain and both carriage roads and trails. Trails are marked for you! Registration and parking is at the north Ridge Rd. parking area, accessible from Rte. 17K in Montgomery.  The ride opens at 9 AM, and all riders must be out by 12 noon. Thanks to sponsors, there will be a raffle drawing for prizes.

The trail ride donation is $20 or $30 per rider, payable at the gate (checks or cash please). So pack a lunch and bring water for your horse. Proof of Negative Coggins and Rabies is required. All proceeds go to help SPARC, now a watchdog for the land for your benefit. Volunteers are needed to trail maintenance and other activities - contact our volunteer Chairperson for the event, Debbie (info below) to help out.

(Note: due to a conflict with draft horse day across the river, no wagon ride is currently planned.)
